With Street Fighter 5's DLC wrapped up and with Street Fighter 6 somewhere on the horizon, it feels like Street Fighter 5 is at the end of its lifespan. Having said that, it's clear that this game still has plenty of hype to offer to players and spectators alike.

During Combo Breaker 2022, Bandits|Caba managed to claw his way out of the losers breaker to meet XSET|iDom in the grand finals. This ended up being one of the most explosive grand finals we've seen for Street Fighter 5 in recent years.

As expected, Caba went with his tried and true Guile to take on iDom's Poison. Based on how all forms of meter got spent in the third round, it's quite evident that both players badly wanted to take the first match of the grand finals.

At the very end of that third round, iDom was able to take back momentum thanks to a well-timed V-Shift Break. Unfortunately for Caba, Poison's crouch fierce ended up sniping Guile just a little before the Sonic Boom could cause an interruption.

Even though iDom was able to take the first match, he had to remember that Caba isn't the type of player that you can get impatient with going into the next match.

It's clear that Caba had a lot of momentum going his way as he was able to keep his cool and make some pretty gnarly comebacks. That setup at the end of the fifth game's first round certainly isn't something you see everyday.

Could this be Caba's tournament? Thanks to an instant overhead at the very end, Caba was able to secure the bracket reset against iDom.

Even though iDom opted to stick with Poison instead of switching to Laura, something about iDom's gameplay changed going into the second set of grand finals. For the next two games, iDom was once again looking like his usual unstoppable self.

However, you can't count Caba out so easily. Despite every attempt from iDom, he just wasn't able to deplete that last sliver of life from Caba.

From his gameplay, you could just feel Caba's determination. Even when iDom drained roughly 40% of Guile's health bar with just one combo, Caba kept his composure and reversed momentum against iDom and his Poison.

Once again, Caba was able to hang on by a thread with just a sliver of life remaining. With this victory, the score for the second set was now 2-2. Whoever won this game game would be crowned the winner of Combo Breaker 2022's Street Fighter 5 tournament.

While momentum was certainly on Caba's side up until this point, nobody is able to force mistakes quite like iDom can in high stakes situations. Inevitably, this was iDom's tournament to win.
