It’s been years since the Blackhawks have played anything other than “Chelsea Dagger” after a goal is scored by a home skater at the United Center. But many of us remember back in the day when we would hear “Johnny B. Good,” “Sharp Dressed Man” or “Rock You Like a Hurricane” after the right guy put the puck in the net.
But I read a fun story on Friday from George Richards about the Florida Panthers letting players pick their own goal songs this season. And there are a few interesting ones, like Sam Bennet going with “Benny and the Jets” by Elton John.

I love how baseball players pick walk-up songs (or the team does for them). It shows some personality and sometimes makes us laugh. And it can get the crowd into it (thinking about Anthony Rizzo walking up to “Intoxicated” by Martin Solveig).
So what if we — the fans — picked goal songs for the Blackhawks this season? Let’s take a run at selecting songs for what we think could be the NHL roster on opening night.
I’m sure his father would have fit into the Thunderdome perfectly, but a Mad Max reference for Domi would be fun. And the title of the song seems to fit the vibe of this year’s Blackhawks roster as well.
The A-Team for the guy whose initials are AA. Perfect. And it’s a great theme song that I’m totally for hearing at the United Center every time he finishes a gorgeous feed from 88 this year.
Get it? Taylor… and Taylor…
Look, Tyler isn’t the biggest guy on the roster and this is a jam and sometimes you just need to pick a song that you know is going to be stuck in the heads of the opponents for a couple minutes/shifts after giving up the goal.
If the fans all yelled “Sprinkles!” at the right time it would be amazing. This is just a fun song that fits after a goal is scored.
White Sox fans might remember this one as Bobby Jenks’ song when he entered games as the closer. But this one rocks and hits hard right out of the gate.
Loud and good. Checks all of the boxes for me.
Yeah, the song from “Moana” performed by The Rock himself. Feels a little tongue-and-cheek but that can be a good thing. He doesn’t score often but when he does it’s an added bonus so saying “You’re Welcome” feels right for Khaira.
I would love to hear this song 15-20 times this year with Kurashev likely getting an increased opportunity this season.
Because he’s been the captain for 15 years and this might be his final lap in a Blackhawks’ sweater. If they did play this after 19 scored a goal I might cry every single time.
Why? Because it’s a great song and fans would sing along with it. And I have a feeling every time Kaner scores one this year it’ll feel like the Blackhawks are fighting back, so the sentiment would fit.
The Jones brothers grew up in Texas and Colorado so let’s throw a little country into the mix.
Funk is always good after a goal is scored so let’s give Connor a great one.
Why “Twice as Hard” as a goal song? Well, the Blackhawks have two Jones brothers on the roster, so why not have one of them go with a great song?
If and when Stillman gets on the board this year it should be a classic — but not cliché. This is a bit random, but Stillman scoring would be, too.
Yeah, there’s a musician by the same name. So why not go there? “Banana Pancakes” is too easy and while there are lots of jokes we could make about the Blackhawks playing “Rodeo Clowns” this season, this one is our pick.
Jake has never scored more than four goals in an NHL season. So when he gets one this year, let em know by Rick Rollin’ em into the next shift.
