Samsung Bangladesh brought its latest A-series smartphone to the Bangladesh market recently, the Galaxy A73 5G - the successor of the Galaxy A72, released last year. After using the Samsung Galaxy A73 5G smartphone for a couple of weeks, here's what we have to say about Samsung's latest A-series entrant.

The review set which we received was 'Awesome Gray' in colour. The elegant matte Grey lines of the Galaxy A73 5G are beautifully designed and give the smartphone its aesthetic edge. Comprising slim bezels and a surprisingly light display, the device holds together nicely in a thin frame. The phone feels light as it weighs just 181 grams and has a plastic back cover with a sleek matte finish - quite light for a feature packed phone.

Coming with a 120Hz FHD+ Super AMOLED Plus display and rated IP67 for water and dust resistance, the Galaxy A73 5G can be immersed in water (up to 1 metre) for a while. With additional protection from the Gorilla Glass 5, the device is tougher than its previous additions and is less prone to scratches. The device allows vivid visibility outdoors with up to 800 nits and has an 'eye comfort shield' which reduces strain on the eyes during prolonged multimedia viewing sessions. The display showed relatively smooth visuals and provided a quality viewing experience with vividly detailed pictures and showed hardly any blurry effect, featuring the largest display size from the recent A-series lineup.

The Galaxy A73 5G comes with a quad-camera setup. Housing a 108 MP main camera coupled with a 12 MP ultra-wide camera, 5 MP depth camera and a 5 MP macro camera. The multiple lenses of the device help to capture brilliant moments with absolute finesse. The rear camera takes particularly great shots during the day and tests its camera to the limits during the night with its night mode feature. The depth camera feature allows customised focus and the macro camera captures pictures with great attention to detail. The hybrid optic zoom feature allows you to zoom into far-away objects effortlessly while reducing the noise with the big pixel sensor feature. Moreover, the object eraser removes or 'erases' any object that may cause disturbance in the frame while taking snaps. Additionally, the 32 MP selfie camera pleasantly captured social media-ready selfies without much hassle.

The smartphone has a large 5000mAh battery and is capable of charging with a 25W fast charger. It is powerful enough to cater to your streaming whims throughout the day. The latest A series smartphone can be recharged with the help of fast charging and has adaptive power-saving features to enhance its overall battery performance. Using our charger, it charges from 10% to 50% within half an hour. Upon testing it first-hand, the device lasted more than a day and a half with moderate usage. Unfortunately, Samsung does not provide any charging brick along with the Galaxy A73 5G, much to our disappointment. However, this does show the A73 staying true to Samsung's promise of being environmentally sustainable.

Powered by the Snapdragon 778G 5G, the Samsung Galaxy A73 5G allows you to incorporate your multimedia lifestyle with pro-level gaming and accelerated AI for enhanced user performance. The device we received had 6GB RAM and 128GB storage while the RAM Plus allows you to use the phone's storage space to get virtual memory, up to 8GB. The listening experience is amplified as the dual speaker setup allows clear sound quality at high volumes.

Despite all these enhancements, the lack of a headphone jack may cause some distress for the regular smartphone user.

With the built-in on-screen fingerprint sensor, you can instantly log in to your apps and websites without compromising on security. The smartphone can easily be used for over a day and a half with the battery holding up fairly well with moderate to heavy usage. The smartphone also showed significant gaming performance with titles like 'Asphalt 9: Legends' and 'Call of Duty Mobile' running smoothly at high graphics levels. Multitasking was a breeze on this device and we did not experience any lags during regular usage.

Is it worth the price though? Well, that's subjective. If you want a premium quality smartphone with decent specs from a reliable brand like Samsung, then the Galaxy A73 5G could be a good pick for you. However, that's not to say that there aren't smartphones with similar specs available at lower prices from other vendors. But as they say, a premium smartphone comes with premium pricing.
