What does the Quinn Ewers landing in Texas mean for Arch Manning?

During the entire process of chasing former Ohio State Buckeyes freshman quarterback Quinn Youles from the NCAA transfer portal earlier this offseason, questions about the Texas football plan were asked and The elite five-star Isidore Newman (Los Angeles) signals caller Archie about Manning. With Texas withdrawing Ewers from the transfer portal over the weekend, it is difficult to know what process Manning's recruitment will take.

There is no doubt that Longhorns' primary goal in the recruitment process of any class is Manning. In the 247Sports Composite and Top247 in the 2023 recruitment cycle, he is the number one high school prospect in the United States. It seems that Texas has been one of his top schools since the early days of his recruitment.

But this may not help Longhorns fulfill Manning's promise that Ewers is now heading to 40 acres. The combination of the introduction of Ewers and this season's 5-7 is no good for Texas in the Manning camp.

However, Longhorns just received a promise to pursue Manning from Ewers’ transfer portal. How significant is that?

This problem may depend on three factors. The first is that Ewers announced his participation in the NFL draft, if he is to take a starting position in Texas next year. Since Ewers was reclassified this fall to the Ohio State University recruiting class in 2021, technically speaking, he can announce his participation in the NFL draft after the end of the 2023 season, which means three years of college time for him.

This also means that when Manning was in college, Ewers was just a hypothetical Longhorns starting quarterback for a year. Sitting behind Ewers for just one season may not be a deal breaker for Manning and Longhorns.

In addition, if Longhorns can really turn the tide with Ewers as the starting quarterback, it may eventually become a selling point for recruits like Manning.

The second factor here depends on what I'm talking about. If the Longhorns really used Ewers to correct the ship, then head coach Steve Sarkisian might help him pursue Manning by removing this promise from the transfer portal. The Manning camp will not want to send Archie where he must be the savior of the show.

Therefore, if Texas starts rolling before Manning is ready to sign and enter any college of his choice, then if he does land on forty acres, the pressure on his shoulders will be much reduced.

The status of this plan will be critical to Manning in 2022. Texas needs to introduce better products in this area so that he can actually choose Longhorns.

After receiving Ewers' promise over the weekend, the third and final factor that may affect Manning's connection with Texas is the supporting role Sark can build, thanks to this newly discovered momentum in the hiring process. Texas needs to establish a wide receiver room and a stronger offensive line in the 2022 and 2023 courses.

Texas has already done a good job in this regard. Over the weekend, two offensive forwards in the elite five-star summer Creek offensive tackle Kelvin Banks and three-star Duncanville offensive tackle Cameron William Ms made a promise.

Prior to the early signing period, to maintain this recruitment momentum on the offensive line, Texas will definitely be on the right track in attracting Manning's attention. In terms of signing courses for 2022, the last part of the puzzle may be the four-star Todd Beamer (Western Australia) offensive tackle Malik Abo and the five-star Bowie inside offensive forward Devin Campbell Two commitments.

All in all, if Texas can prove to Manning that there will be suitable supporters beside him in his technical position and offensive line, then it will eventually go a long way to get promises from him. Thanks to hiring momentum that dates back to last weekend, Texas can build a support lineup to a large extent.

Obviously, getting promises from the transfer portal means what Longhorns means. Most Longhorns fans probably know what Manning's promise can bring to the 2023 recruitment program. It goes without saying that the impact of Ewers' coming to Texas in the next year or so will directly affect Manning's recruitment.
